Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca)
Common Milkweed. This native plant is most known
for its association with the Monarch Butterfly. But it's
also edible (when thoroughly cooked) in three stages
of its life: young shoots less than 8" tall), the flowers,
and the small 1" pods, before they get bigger.
Prefers full sun. Once established will spread by
rhizomes. Not recommended to plant in your veggie
garden, as it spreads vigorously.
